Once again Tui and the crew were back down in Thames for a workshop at the local Thames High School. Having previously taught at Thames High School, Tui and her crew of dancers were well aware of the raw talent, and passion for dance that is present in the Thames community and youth.
Sure enough the day kicked off with some basic warm-ups met with enthusiastic Thames youth, eager to learn whatever they could and show how much they loved Hip-Hop dance.
After a good mornings work and a small interval, we were onto our first set of group battles. While our first boys on girls battle seemed to flop out, our very next battle between two mixed teams sparked up a heated unforgettable scene. The two teams pulled out all the big guns, with flips, air-tracks, krumping and even a bit of break dancing in the mix. The battles we witnessed that day were definately a high point for the UB crew.
We finished the day off with a few dance-skilled games, another amazing fun-filled battle and a slick performance of the Thames High School mix which they had learnt throughout the morning. Overall Tui and her crew were very impressed with the talent and passion witnessed at Thames High School, and look forward to seeing you all again in the near future.
Big shout out to all the Thames High School youth and a special shout out to the T-Cells down in Thames keeping it real. Much love from everyone here at Urban Beat.
